(Tampa) - The Tampa Bay Buccaneers today announced that they have named LB Brent Altenhoff their franchise player, guaranteeing him an eight million dollar contract per year the rest of his career.
As many Buccaneers fans are aware, Altenhoff was taken first overall in the draft during the first season of current Tampa Bay GM 'Trader' Lee Remley's tenure and is now the anchor of a young defense that is getting better with maturity.
'Brent had an outstanding season last year and we felt he deserved this honor,' Bucs GM Remley said in a statement. 'We look forward to Brent anchoring our defense for many years to come.'
