Rookie of the Year Dorn leads his troops to Sundby Cup
By "Alliteration Alita"

Off-Season 2284 (Charlotte) - When the Carolina Panthers released perennial MVP Jay Brown and replaced him with a rookie QB, Panthers GM 'Trader' Lee Remley was roasted on galactic sports subspace radio and on social media.

But Scott Dorn came through big this season for the Panthers, and as a result, they ended up in the Sundby Cup where no one expected them to be.

The former Notre Dame quarterback was passed on by 14 teams in the last USAFL draft before Carolina drafted him in the first round. Now they probably all wish they had him. Remley saw something familiar in the young man, and the Panthers drafted him right away.

'He had some of the same attributes that some of our greats have had,' Remley said at the press conference where Dorn was named Rookie of the Year in the USAFL.

Incidentally, those are names like Kevin Jones and Courtney McLemore, some of the USAFL's greatest passers.

Dorn is a descendant of former Cleveland Indians great Roger Dorn, so he comes from an athletic family background. At Notre Dame, he was recruited after being considered the number one prospect in the country coming out of high school.

At each level, Scott Dorn has come with high expectations and met them. Now he is doing so at the highest level, placing fourth in the league in passing during his rookie year.

Dorn has high expectations for himself as well.

'I want to be drinking out of the Sundby Cup a lot of times during my career,' Dorn tells people. 'I want and expect to end up one of the all time greats. Someday I want to see my plaque in the USAFL Hall of Fame alongside all of those other guys who played here after I break all of Kevin Jones' records.'

High expectations, indeed.
