Off-Season 2285 (Charlotte) - Lucky number 11 finally came to pass.

After the last couple of appearances in the USAFL's big game ended in bitter defeat at the hands of Baltimore, the Carolina Panthers finally came through today against the Denver Broncos, defeating them 24-15 in the 2283 Sundby Cup.

The big star of the game was WR Ron Reed, who puled in 8 catches and averaged 20 yards a pop. The Panthers defense also piled up 6 sacks.

Young quarterback Scott Dorn led his team to the Sundby Cup in his second season, after an appearance in his rookie year.

'This is great,' Dorn said after drinking champagne out of the Cup. 'I could do this every year. I am kind of expecting it now.'

Panthers GM 'Trader' Lee Remley, wearing a 'One for the Big Toe' T-shirt, which was the team motto in training camp, was pleased to finally get number 11.

'We have had a lot of disappointments in this game over the years, but this is sweet,' Remley said, referring to the team's now 11-14 record in the big game. 'This team is a great mix of young and old and they came through for these great fans. Nothing could be finer.'
