Major Mistake May Make Miracle Making Muzzled

Hung Over GM Offers Wrong Free Agent Contract
By "Alliteration Alita"

Off-Season 2285 (Charlotte) - It was a great plan, even though it didn't work in reality.

A hung over Carolina Panthers GM 'Trader' Lee Remley, recovering from the Sundby Cup victory celebrations with a group of Japanese businessmen who support the team, saw that three free agents were bid on, and he had enough cap room.

Problem is, he forgot he could only offer contracts to two of them, being the champion and all.

So after T Darin Briehle and CB Chris O'Donnell signed contracts, he suddenly discovered that LB Jack Joiner could not sign his.

Oops.

Most observers expected Briehle and Joiner to be matched, and truth be told, had Remley been in his right mind, that's what he would have done.

The good news is, the Panthers drafted the best linebacker available at #10 overall, Billy Batton. Now he is getting the crash course in being a starter at outside linebacker right off the bat instead of being eased into a role.

Meanwhile, Remley says this experience has taught him a valuable lesson.

'Never go drinking with Japanese the night before having to negotiate contracts,' Remley quipped.
