Former star QB will now lead the troops into battle in a different way

Off-Season 2298 (Charlotte) - It didn't take long for Scott Dorn to get his next gig.

The Carolina Panthers announced today that he will be their new head coach.

'We didn't want to see Scott working with any other team but ours,' Panthers GM Lee Remley said in a statement. 'So we decided as we were making a coaching change anyway, we would give the job to someone we knew had great football smarts and offensive knowledge.'

After missing the playoffs two years in a row and the team backsliding, Carolina decided it was time for a change. Enter a guy looking for a new career.

'I am pleased to stay with the Panthers,' Dorn said. 'As I looked at the next phase of my life to begin, I never dreamed this opportunity would arise. It is literally a dream come true to stay here. I intend to make the most of it and make us successful again.'

The first test for the new coach is to work with the GM on the draft next Monday. It will be interesting to see who the Panthers come up with among their 12 selections.
