Panthers cut long time safety

Off-Season 2305 (Charlotte) - Vincent Cobb will lend you an ear if you have an offer.

The Carolina Panthers cut their long time safety this morning as they got down to 53 players. Many fans were surprised at the move.

Taken with the 16th overall pick of the 2295 draft, Cobb spent his whole career with the Panthers, and has a reputation of hitting like a ton of bricks as he patrolled center field for Carolina.

Cobb accumulated 648 tackles, recovered 2 fumbles, scored 2 TDs, and picked off 8 passes in his illustrious career so far. Fans will miss Cobb's hard hitting presence in Carolina's backfield, which often produced oohs and ahhs in the stands after a particularly nasty hit.

'We appreciate all the years Vincent gave us in Carolina,' Panthers GM Lee Remley said in a statement. 'We decided to give him a chance to catch on as a starter elsewhere to continue his fine career.'
