Singleton Gets His Shot

Tang won the Cup for the Birds in 2057, Green came up short in 2064

Playoffs 2086 (Philadelphia) - Three quarterbacks in forty seasons. Talk about leadership consistency. Since Art Tang started as a rookie back in 2046, the Eagles have established a pattern of sticking with their man through 'thick and thin'.

Tang retired in 2061 as the league's #2 All-Time QB, 148yds behind Sonny Vail. He also was the last Eagles' QB to win a Super Bowl, the 2057 14-6 win over Buffalo.

Mike Green took over the reigns in 2062 as a 1yr, doe-eyed, optimist. Green led the team to a league-high 13-1 record and all the way to the NFC Championship in his first season, falling to the Cowboys 26-23. His only Sundby Cup appearance came two seasons later. The Eagles lost 30-16 against the soon-to-retire Ben Breeden and his Denver Broncos.

In 2075, the Eagles said good-bye to Green and were prepared to hand the reins of the team over to 4yr clipboard holder Greg Singleton. But the front office had just drafted local-standout Bill Dixon in the 4th round and there was intense pressure in the media to immediately move Dixon into the limelight. Coach Art Tang made it public that he was not happy with management's call, but Dixon would be the starter.

Dixon only played 14 games as an Eagle, leading the team to an 8-6 record, barely missing the playoffs due to a tiebreaking loss to the Green Bay Packers. Once the regular season ended, Tang immediately waived Dixon and proclaimed Singleton the starter. Tang has never acknowledged Dixon's year as the Eagle's QB.

Thus the team considers their forty-season era of QB consistency as Tang to Green to Singleton.

The Eagles have won three league titles in the modern era, 2014 with QB Miles Pollara, 2024 with QB Isaiah Emtman (who had just signed on with the team after six seasons in Kansas City), and 2057 with QB Art Tang.

Now, with one season left before retirement, Greg Singleton has a shot at winning a championship for his beloved Philadelphia Eagles.
