Houston owner calls Magazine editor a raging poopy head
By "Jon Cole"

Regular Season 2089 (Houston, TX) - Houston owner Patrick Sicher had a few choice words for the USAFL Magazine editor. 'Where does he get off saying the changes haven't helped? 16 isnt the number of games in a row we have lost, we have actually lost 21 in a row. It is how many games it took into the rebuild process to allow that many few points.' A week 3 loss to Pittsburgh 16-0 was the glimmer of hope Sicher was hoping to get from his team this year.

'If our offense could get in gear, we might close the gap a little bit in our points for and points against. We have only scored 3 more points than we did through 5 games last season, but we have shaved of more than 30 points. The good thing about our schedule is that it is almost identical to last season, the lone exception being that we face the Pats later in the season and instead of Cincy we played Buffalo. Comparing should be easy. I would not be surpised if we are actually able to pull off a victory this season. If not this team should be set in 2 to 3 seasons.'

Sicher praised the front office for their draft strategy. 'We have similar players who complement each other very well. Once we get a few more key players in position and the current players gel we should be a formidable team.' And filling key positions will be a lot easier with the top overall pick as well as 3 additional first rounders in the 2090 draft.

The chronicle has put together a position by position breakdown of Houston's future. Today we start with the offensive skill position players.

QB - Despite only 11 TDs and 22 INTs in 19 games, 2088 #9 pick Steve Milstead is a star in the making. Once he has an offensive line protecting him (he's been sacked 161 times) he should be able to sit back in the pocket and find his talented crop of receivers. Supplemental pick Jim Williams has proven to be a capable back up.

RB - Camp standouts have definately been 3rd rounder Chuck Langfield and 4th rounder Bill Cook. Langfield has gotten the nod as the starter, but is also suffering from a lack of blocking. Current rookie Joe Tjader, taken in the 2nd round, has impressed with his work ethic and is hoping to get the ball more frequently. Supp picks Mark Scrafford and Lamar Proehl are getting reps in practice, but still find themselves on the outside looking in.

WR - Rookie of the Year Julius Fozo led the team last year with 71 for 1319 and 3 TDs. He already has 18 for 326 this season and big things are expected from him. Guys like Byrd, Cunningham and Tyndall should also have plenty of balls thrown their way.

TE - Ramsay Powell, Mr. Irrelevant last year, and Johnny Johnson, 5th from the last pick in this draft, are comepeting for the top TE spot, and should be a formidable duo for years to come.
