Pre-Season 2100 (Albany, NY) - This afternoon, the New York Giants announced that at halftime of the week 14 game against the Green Bay Packers, Ken Alexander and Bob Walters will join the team's Ring of Honor.

The duo will join the following players on the ring that encircles the upper deck of Giants Stadium:

Quarterbacks Henry Riggs and David Kozlowski
Runningbacks Kevin Wood(most recent induction) and Noah Walsh
Wide receivers Hugh Webb and Arthur Carrier
Offensive Linemen Dalton Taylor, Torin Foster, and Wendell Byars
Defensive Linemen Carson Triple and Mark Tardits
Linebackers Marcus Glasgow, Todd Lombard and Todd Salo
Defensive Backs Wolfgang Barry, Bernie Jackson and James Sanders

'We want the kind of players that are championship caliber players up on the Ring of Honor' GM Joe Malloy said at the press conference. 'Alexander and Walters are this year's inductions because they were an integral part of the championship teams of 2091 and 2094. We're already lining up Kevin Wood to introduce them at the ceremony.'

'I'm definitely honored to be a part of the Ring of Honor.' Walters said. 'It makes me feel good that I helped contribute to championship teams. There's no greater feeling than to be honored by your team.'

Alexander, who is still active and 3,138 yards away from 50,000, is expected to not only be inducted at the ceremony, but to have his #3 retired by the team. Only two other players in the USAFL era have that honor. Mark Tardits had #76 retired and Hugh 'The Spider' Webb had #89 retired.

'I never thought I was going to be here' Alexander said. 'I thought about quitting the game when my parents died in a plane crash following my rookie season. It's a great thing I stuck to this game, because everything I've ever done was in their memory. I'm sure they're looking down on me and smiling. If it wasn't for them and the great teammates I've had over the years, I wouldn't have been able to have this honor. To have my number retired alongside one of the great run stoppers of his era in Mark Tardits, and one of the stickiest handed wide receivers to have ever played the game in Hugh Webb, it's awe inspiring.'

Malloy said in conclusion about Alexander and why he will have his number retired. 'Alexander was the face of New York sports for his entire career. A lot of people get thrown into the spotlight of playing in New York and can't handle it. Alexander stepped up and was a true face of New York sports. There haven't been many special athletes like him in any of these sports. It was most certainly an honor to have him on the team.'

The Giants are also expected to announce that Jay Lee will be included in the team's Ring of Honor in the near future, and could very well have his number #66 retired by the team. Lee, who currently is on the Baltimore Ravens, did not comment.
