Longtime GM Ends Career That Spanned Decades

Off-Season 2101 (Philadelphia) - While all the league's attention was on Monte Owens' future, word was circulating around CitiBank Arena that longtime Redskins' GM Bill Barnwell was resigning.

The league was unaware of the pending resignation and was caught unprepared in regards to the Draft responsibilities of the Washington franchise. Commissioner Andrew Lewis had his staff confirm the news backstage before stepping forward and announcing the news before a stunned audience.

'It is with great sadness that we will be saying goodbye to one of this league's greatest friends,' said Lewis. 'I have just dispatched word to Bill Barnwell my deepest regrets in seeing him go, but assured him that he will always find a welcome embrace if he ever desires to return to this game that we all love so much.'

Commissioner Lewis immediately set into motion steps that will ensure a competitive foundation for the troubled Redskins franchise. The USAFL has long been noted for its zeal to maintain statistical integrity by assuring a high-level of competition for every city that is fortunate enough to have a USAFL franchise of its own.

'While this news will be shocking for the DC fans,' said Lewis afterwards, 'hopefully everything from here on out will be nothing but good news for the city of Washington D.C.'
