Youth Progresses Nicely In Camp

Cleveland hopes to have a better showing in 2079

Pre-Season 2079 (Cleveland, OH) - Hopes are a little higher coming out of Cleveland after the completion of camp. GM James Barr seems to be pleased with the progression of his younger players and has some hope that the Browns will show at least moderate improvement during the coming year.

'Some of the younger guys have really shown some promise, we are especially interested in how RB Morris Allard will perform as a full-back in this offense.'

Allard has all the needed skills to succeed at the position, but he has no experience with it. A few others players will be starting off the year at new spots as well. Juan Ford makes the move from Center to Guard, and Warner Wilburn goes from DE to DT.

'We made some changes this year, and we are confident that they will work out. Warner shows both the strength and agility that is needed to work the inside of the line. He and Agnew should work well with Caldwell and Fultz on the outside. We have to Pro-Bowlers on the d-line and we feel that we have a future pro-bowler in Agnew. All in all I guess you could say we have a pretty impressive defensive line.'

Agnew has made major improvements in the off-season and looks to dominate the line this year and show why he was taken so high in the draft just two years ago.

Veteran LB Dan Gaston will take over at middle linebacker this year and looks to be a vast improvement from last year. Anthony Anderson will start once again at outside linebacker and should anchor the LB core for yet another year.

The secondary remains somewhat suspect, but should be a little improved over last year.

'They didn't play that badly, we just couldn't get any offense going so they were out there all game long. That isn't fair to anyone. Our offense should at least be middle of the pack this year which will help the defense immensley.'

Basically, hopes are up for the Browns, but no one is saying they are a playoff team by any means. Seems like they are looking for 5 plus wins.

'If we can win 5 games or more I will be happy. I am satisfied with young guys and I think we are learning to work as a team. When it all comes together we will become a respectable team.'

We also asked GM Barr about the rumors of a team going to Cincinnati in the near future. He had the following comments;

'At this time I am not at liberty to speak about this matter. All I can say is that if a team is moving the league will be properly informed before it happens. No Mayflower trucks in the night around here.'
