Pankey released

Former MVP runner up shown the door
By "Bucky Katz"

Off-Season 2115 (Charlotte) - He was the runner up for the USAFL MVP award a couple of seasons ago.

He had female fans wearing his last name on t-shirts with 'hanky' above.

He was the Carolina Panthers starting QB until last season.

Now he's out of work...and maybe out of the league.

After trying to work a trade for him and finding no interest, the Carolina Panthers unceremoniously released QB Rhett Pankey.

'It's a really sad day,' GM 'Trader' Lee Remley said. 'We tried to work a trade for him to get an opportunity elsewhere, but all we got was the sound of crickets on the other end of the phone. So we had to move on. I wish him well.'

Pankey could not be reached for comment.
