Off-Season 2080 (CHICAGO) - The Chicago Bears announce today that they have released Superbowl MVP kicker David Sprague. Sprague started for the Bears as a rookie but struggled throughout the season making only 15 out of 26 field goal attempts (long of 48). He shined in the playoffs with a blistering 7 out of 9 attempts which included a 49-yarder versus the Washington Redskins in a 19-16 OT win and a 50-yarder in the Superbowl against the New England Patriots in a 20-17 victory. Nevertheless, Chicago coach Bob Switzer stated that his potential is not up to par with the championship tradition being started in the Bears' organization.
Open try-outs will be held prior to training camp for a replacement.
