Mike Strong Closes Deal on Franchise Contract

By "Jake Mooney"

Pre-Season 2119 (Kansas City, MO) - In a not so shocking move, the Chiefs offered QB Strong a franchise contract in his third year, guaranteeing him 8 million dollars a season the rest of his career. 'This should come as no surprise,' GM Harrison said. 'You only need look at how we have progressed with him at the helm in just a few short seasons. With no disrespect to Greg Tolliver, Mike (Strong) has the potential to become the best QB the Chiefs, or the USAFL, has ever seen. Consider that he is only starting his fourth season and he just posted a 60.5% completion percentage, 3,200 yards and 20 TD's and he isn't even the best he can be yet. Oh yeah, and this is from a primarily running offense. Even if he doesn't get any better, he will be in the top 5 for career numbers in Yards and TD's. This is just the start of a great ERA for Chief's football.'

This had to be done as Strong is clearly one of the top young QB's in the league. Harrison has been looking for a replacement to Tolliver as the Chiefs have floundered in mediocrity since his retirement. Ever since Strong took the helm, it's a whole new atmosphere come game time. Look for Strong to finish his career as a Chief as Harrison has never been one to trade away such a remarkable talent.
