Panthers hope Clark can rediscover running game

Former Buffalo vet joins Panthers quest for the playoffs

Off-Season 2122 (Charlotte) - The explorers Lewis and Clark once set out across the American frontier to see what was out there. The Panthers hope one of their namesakes will help them rediscover their running game. A key for a team historically known for running the ball, and running it well.

Ferdinand Clark was unceremonously dumped by his former employers, the Buffalo Bills, at the end of camp. But Panthers GM 'Trader' Lee Remley was willing to take a chance on the former Bills star in his twilight years.

'We have a couple of promising youngsters at running back, but they're not ready for prime time yet,' Remley told the reporters when questioned about the move. 'Andre Carpenter proved last year he was a better fullback than the bell cow back there. So we needed a stop gap measure, and who better than someone who has been the man on a championship team?'

Clark was chosen over former Redskins Douglas Veasey and Matt Gross because of his track record and his explosiveness, even after 11 years in the league.

'The last time we signed up a couple of Mark's players, we went deep into the playoffs,' Remley joked. 'Hopefully lightning will strike twice.'
