Who are these guys?

Panthers offense undergoing massive changes
By "Bucky Katz"

Off-Season 2127 (Charlotte) - Wide receivers Jeff Armstrong and Ron Justin and guard Steve Castle are now in Washington. QB Griffin Hinnant and FB Andre Carpenter are now in New England. HB Tommy Sheppard and TE Daniel Hamilton are in Minnesota. WR Matt Buckley is in Chicago. The Carolina Panthers offense will never be the same. Or will it?

Sherman Thompson now stands under center, ready to take over after many seasons backing up Hinnant. Barry Porter is more than ready to be the main ball carrier. Scott Raines is ready to take over at fullback. Mitchell Yarborough can play either position and could win a job at either spot.

AJ Zachary arrives to take over as the number one receiver after leading the league in all purpose yards last season. Andrew Allen is a solid number two receiver. Jeremiah Nicholson wants to get the ball more as the number three receiver. Ernie Ward is ready to be the main kick returner.

Up front, Leo Mills arrives to take over Castle's offensive line spot at guard, while William Jenkins is ready to take over at tackle for the retired JJ Rowen.

The Panthers offense still looks formidable despite the moves. The team has accumulated some more draft picks for 2128 and 2129 to help their renovation.

Meanwhile, while some critics are wondering what's going on, the front office is not worried in Charlotte.

'Sometimes you have to trim some branches off the tree to help it grow,' GM 'Trader' Lee Remley said. 'We have guys here who can still do the job.'

So while the USAFL celebrates their annual 'silent night', the Carolina Panthers have been busy preparing for next season.

Will it be worth it? We'll see as the new season dawns.
