Chiefs Win AFC West Title

Can a .500 Team Win in the Post Season?
By "Frank Stenerud"

Playoffs 2080 (Kansas City, MO) - My heritage traces back to the great Jan Stenerud, a Kicker for the Chiefs many years ago. A loyal Kansas City Chiefs' fan, it's been the longest playoff drought I can remember. 2074 was the last time the Chiefs were in the post season, 2073 they won the division. 2073 they made the AFC Championship, only to lose to their usual playoff thwarts, the Bills. Coincidentally, they get to face the Bills here in the Division playoffs. GM Harrison was at a loss for words, 'I know, this is unusual,' he said. 'But it seems like forever since we have been here, I thought maybe I had lost my edge. We'll see how this post season goes. We lost at Buffalo early on in the season, they ran all over us. We'll try and slow'em down and get our offense in gear. I liked our performance in week 14 against the Ravens. It looks like we are peaking at just the right time.'

So, my question is, can a .500 team win in the post season? Why not? The regular season is just a qualifier. The Chiefs have played well the last couple of weeks against two of the better teams in the USAFL, the Bears and the Ravens. The defense being the key, only allowing a total of 9 points. The Chiefs have been a much better team at home this season, than on the road. I think they can beat the Bills, and after that? Well, let's just take it one game a time.
