A Giant Task

Players Change Teams, But Goal is the Same
By "Gary Gray"

Off-Season 2141 (Washington, DC) - Ask any Redskins player which team they hated playing against the most, and there was no hesitation - The New York Giants. 'Those guys are a pain in the ---' said lifelong burgundy-and-gold O-lineman Andrew Carpenter in a blunt assessment.

When NY general manager Joe Malloy announced the liquidation of his team, Ben Breeden was one of the first GM's to hop on the phone. But the Redskins were unable to secure even a single player from the fire sale. 'Other GM's were able to offer more value for Joe's players. We just didn't have the cap space or the roster space to make competitive offers.'

As a result, 11 of the Giants' former starters are now spread across the NFC, concentrated in Minnesota, Carolina, and Chicago. Those three teams will now be serving up rivalry Grande style in Weeks 2, 8, and 12 respectively ... and likely in the first two rounds of the playoffs. While the jerseys may have changed, the goal is still the same; just ask Danny Gilbert what his goal was as a Giant: 'Beat the Redskins.' What's his goal as a Bear? 'Beat the Redskins.'
