A Noble Warrior Comes to Carolina

Sackmeister Noble is now a Panther

Off-Season 2154 (Charlotte) - In another hastily arranged late night press conference, the Carolina Panthers announced that they had acquired DE Albert Noble from the Philadelphia Eagles for their entire 2157 and 2158 drafts and their 2156 first round pick.

'The Carolina Panthers would like to announce that they have brought a Noble warrior to Charlotte to play for us the next few seasons,' team spokeswoman Kaori Sato said, actually smiling for once. 'We feel this acquistion was worth the price paid for the impact this player brings to our club.'

They went against practice every day for six years in Philly. Now offensive lineman free agent signee Taylor Roland gets to go against Noble again.

'He made me a better player and helped me get this big contract,' Roland said to reporters after the press conference. 'I look forward to sparring with him on the practice field again, and having him back on my team.'

Fans are already speculating how having three franchise players on the defensive line, all with great speed and acceleration, will thrive in the team's new 3-4 scheme. Add to that four linebackers who can also get up the field quickly and observers are really interested to see the front seven on defense in action.

The Pamthers also announced another acquisition later in the night, as they picked up offensive tackle Eddie Zahnd from the Green Bay Packers for a first round pick in 2155. That gives Carolina an upgrade at two positions on the offensive line, a concern going into the off season with the retirements of T Phil Pridemore and C Art Wilcox. Now QB Travis Zimmerman can breathe easier.

This has been one of the busier offseasons in Panther history, at any rate. We will soon see if the moves pay off as training camp is about to begin.
