Tommy Gun offense is history

Carolina returns to the West Coast offense even though team closer to East Coast

Off-Season 2155 (Charlotte) - The Carolina Panthers today anounced that the K-Gun offense, commonly called the 'Tommy Gun' offense by team observers, is now a thing of the past.

'Our esteemed Quarterback Travis Zimmerman has shown that he is more successful in the West Coast offensive scheme,' team spokesperson Kaori Sato announced in a press conference this morning. 'Therefore we will return to the scheme where Mr. Zimmerman was in the league MVP race not long ago.'

There was some speculation that the Panthers might go with the spread to take advantage of the multiple excellent wide receivers on the roster. But after reviewing Zimmerman's performance in the West Coast offense in the past, and how well the offense rolled up points in those years, it was decided to go back to that offensive scheme.

The 3-4 defense, nicknamed the 'ninja' defense, entirely successful last season with Carolina's personnel, will definitely stay in place. There was not even a discussion on that after the way the defense performed last season, led by MVP DT Matt McDonald and his 41 sacks, topping his teammate Albert Noble's 40 with Philadelphia two seasons ago.

Rumors persist that Al Benson may start at HB over former MVP and 4th in the league rusher Jim Mason this season, as many think he is ready for the prime time role. As a result, Mason may want to have a new address in 2155 where he can once again start. The same might be said for TE Dale Rodgers, who apparently has been surpassed by backup TE Greg Brazil. So the Panthers offense may see some more changes before training camp is done.
