Jackson sure to see action

Revamp of Panthers defensive line complete with waiver signing
By "Bucky Katz"

Off-Season 2159 (Charlotte) - The Carolina Panthers completed the total revamping of their defensive line today when they signed veteran defensive lineman Patrick Jackson off the waiver wire along with four rookie free agents.

'We were surprised Patrick was available,' Panthers GM 'Trader' Lee Remley said when they announced the acquisition. 'We think he can play the nose in our new scheme and help stop the run, where we were really lacking last season.'

The Panthers defense was dead last in the league in rush defense last season, and next to last in pass defense. So the changes in five of their front seven and all three defensive linemen is no real surprise.

Carolina knows this is Jackson's last season, but they hope he will help the Panthers leave town on a high note. Jackson is familiar with the Panthers, having grown up and still living in Raleigh, NC.

'It will be a big loss when the team moves,' Jackson said. 'But I understand why they are leaving. The city just didn't do anything to keep them here.'

Hopefully the Panthers can give their fans here one more good run.
