Off-Season 2167 (USAFL League Offices) - The New York Giants franchise, frustrated over what happened in week 14 in the controversial Detroit Lions/Dallas Cowboys game, walked out 10 minutes before the 2167 draft started.

Security was heightened before tonight's draft, as it was expected that the Giants contingent would confront the Cowboys contingent at the draft. The Giants had previously suggested to their fan base to not have anyone show up at the draft. Various Facebook groups popped up this past offseason, suggesting that the Giants fan base should hunt down Cowboys fans and cause trouble at the draft. Fortunately the fan base heeded the Giants request and stayed out of the draft. The Giants fan base did hold a protest outside of the Meadowlands, demanding some sort of compensation for what had happened in week 14. The tie between the Cowboys and the Detroit Lions cost the Giants a playoff spot, since the Giants had the tiebreaker with the Cowboys and would have made the playoffs if there was no tie.

GM Joe Malloy showed up, but was not looking to draft. He had announced that his picks were up for trade, first come first serve. After Baltimore contacted Malloy, they quickly came to an agreement and the Giants contingent walked out of the draft. Dallas' contingent showed up moments later, apparently sequestered elsewhere per security measures.

An inside source to the Giants said that 'Malloy was looking to pass on each of his picks.' When asked about the rumor as he was walking out, Malloy said 'no comment'.

Malloy and his contingent went back to Giants headquarters, where his players were waiting. Malloy had requested his players show up. Speculation has already started up about why Malloy had put together this meeting between him and his players. Speculation is strong that either Malloy is going to blow up the entire Giants franchise and rebuild, or that he may walk away from the league a second time. There were rumblings that he was going to step down as Giants GM, as this situation is similar to the Washington Redskins situation a couple of decades back, where the league controlled Redskins got too strong to deal with.

GM Malloy is expected to make an announcement in the next couple of days about the Giants future.
