Eagles Center Stage With Controversial Draft

Who do the Eagles really pick?

Off-Season 2191 (USAFL Draft Room) - Eagles GM Lee Patterson was scratching his head in the chaos during the draft Monday night.

Don Chambers the former Center in college was picked up as a surprising #15 pick overall. The crazier part was the following pick in the 2nd round by the Eagles when they went with former All American Tackle Ray Harvey. Fans from Philadelphia who were at the draft booed loudly as the commentators voiced their thoughts on the fans displeasure.

Just when the Eagles draft couldn't get more wacky a controversial thing happened in the 3rd round. The Eagles were announced on the clock but when they sent their pick up it was read as athletic superstar defensive back Virgil Lynn. Then an announcement was made that the Eagles weren't even on the clock and Lynn wasn't the pick. With Virgil still having cameras in his face and waiting for the true official pick the Eagles pick was in as defensive back Sean Geren.

The Eagles fans were shown split screen with Virgil Lynn to which Lynn dropped his phone in complete shock. The Eagles fans looked like they were mad and in shock.

Shortly after the pick ESPN managed to get a brief update on what happened after talking to sources close to the Eagles War Room. 'The Eagles did not like what Virgil Lynn had to say on the phone when they told him that he would be the pick. He slipped up and said he looked forward to playing for the Cowboys and destroying those Eagles.'

Tampa seeing a missed opportunity went after the lockdown corner Virgil Lynn. This could be the moment that only adds gasoline to the fire in this kid. He could be a star shut down corner in this league and giving him extra motivation is dangerous.

Now normally this would be the end of the craziness of the draft for one team. It wasn't though. The Eagles 4th round pick was up and somehow a person in the War Room wrote the wrong name on the slip. DT John Wilkinson was the first of the two 4th round picks. Don Tate was Mr. Irrelevant but just so happened to be the intended first of the 4th round picks.

Lee Patterson spoke to some fans at the private viewing party explaining the situation. 'We wanted both guys. This draft was about suring up our offensive and defensive lines for when some of our veterans are gone here in the next few years. We have a lot of faith in our picks. Geren is a true leader in the defensive backfield and could one day be a captain here.'

The Eagles can only hope that they do not make any more mistakes like this in future drafts or they could earn a reputation for being dysfunctional.
