Sundby History Being Made

Spread Offense vs. Spread Offense
By "Ithaca Tanberg"

Playoffs 2198 (New York, NY) - In a Sundby match-up that nobody predicted, it appears the Spread Offense has once again proven its legitimacy in the league. Both the Green Bay Packers and the Baltimore Ravens switched to the often overlooked package this season; it's paying dividends for both.

Viewed as an amusing system for the also-rans for more than a 150 years, the Spread has started to gain some steam. Todd Ricotta's squad broke through with a Sundby win first, but it was the emergence of all-time wide receiver Bill Singleton with Baltimore that really highlighted what the offensive strategy could do. Singleton holds receiving records that will likely never be challenged, let alone beat; what can be forgotten is the three Sundby cups that he won.

Yet through all of that, little further attention was paid to the oft maligned offensive system. A few year ago, Dallas picked it up and made it to the Cup. And this year, for the first time in history, both teams in the Sundby Cup will be running the Spread offense.

While the offense doesn't have the impressive Cup history of the other schemes, it will be adding another champion tonight.
