Remley speaks out!

Cincinnati GM goes on the record with comments
By "Who Dey"

Off-Season 2212 (Cincnnati) - The Cincinnati Bengals post-draft press conference had more attendees than usual today after Tampa Head Office GM Addam 'Sweet Georgia' Brown called out the team's GM after the draft.

GM 'Trader' Lee Remley's post-draft comments were interrupted by a reporter from the Tampa Bay Washrag referencing the previous day's tirade.

'Well, I don't know if Addam hasn't been eating his Wheaties, or he's worried about trading all those vets, or he's had too many of those cheap Tampa cigars, or what,' Remley said. 'Tell him his girlfriend listens when he talks in his sleep,' he joked.

'Look, I pulled a 'Lou' on him just like the genuine article has done on me several times,' Remley continued. 'Truth is, probably most of our draft boards probably look alike. It comes down to draft position and need. It's that simple. He had a good draft and got a lot of good players with all those picks. He ought to be proud of the group he's hitting the field with the next few years instead of taking shots around the league.'

'As for drafting two tight ends, our guys do something known as blocking so we keep three around. It might be a new concept for the new Tampa coaching staff, but its something that has served us well over the years.'

Next question had to do with trading of players.

'We were selling off veterans long before Tampa started their clearance sale. We got hopeful we improved ahead of schedule with a 7-7 record the year before last, but as I told the team at the end of last year's 4-10 season, if we can be 4-10 with you, we can be 4-10 without you.'

With LB Ronnie Van Dyke just sent off to Buffalo to join Clarence 'don't call me Mary Tyler' Moore, the second wave of veteran departures has apparently begun.

As two big Japanese men in pinstriped Armani suits persuaded the Tampa fishwrap reporter to leave, observers still wonder how the GM is going to sell this season to loyal Bengals fans.
