Off-Season 2249 (Cincinnati) - The Cincinnati Bengals today announced that defensive end Bryan Ratterman has been designated their latest franchise player, guaranteeing him $12 million a year for the remainder of his career.

Drafted with the 17th pick in the third round of the 2244 draft, Ratterman was a surprise star for the Bengals in the past several years, earning him the franchise designation.

Though he could have been a free agent next offseason, Ratterman was very happy with his new paycheck.

'I love it in Cincinnati,' Ratterman said. 'I have plenty of girlfriends and I am playing for a historic franchise. I look forward to bringing that Sundby home finally that we have been working toward.'

Bengals GM 'Trader' Lee Remley had this to say: 'We have always targeted Bryan for the franchise tag even though we had to maneuver a bit to do it. There was no way we were going to risk losing him.'

The Cincinnati hopeful hope that Ratterman can indeed help bring that next long awaited Sundby Cup home.
