Sad Sundby Saga Sinks Southerners

Panthers lose another Sundby Cup, alcohol sales in the Carolinas increase

Off-Season 2284 (Charlotte) - The Carolina Panthers sat in a somber locker room following a 19-13 loss to Baltimore in the Sundby Cup.

Rookie of the Year QB Scott Dorn did all that he could in the game, completing 70% of his passes for 293 yards and 2 TDs. But despite Don Thompsen getting 6 yards a carry, Baltimore's defense cracked down when it had to and did their stop in stopping Carolina when it counted. An interception and a fumble in the first half by the Panthers stopped drives that could have given them points and may have been the difference.

Carolina fans should take heart and be proud of the way their team rose to the occasion this year. A rookie QB and the trading of three key defensive linemen would probably derail a lot of teams. Instead, the Panthers had a great 11-3 season and a trip back to the Sundby Cup. Plus new QB Scott Dorn looks like a potential great.

Their GM, however, is a bit disheartened.

'It seems like we've been here too many times,' Panthers GM 'Trader' Lee Remley said. 'We are 10-14 in these games. You would think .500 at lest, right. Still, most thought we would get past Minnesota so I guess that's something.'

Carolina fans are waiting to see what will happen next. Will Remley live up to his nickname? Who else will get a copy of the home game? Will Dorn go to spring training with the Indians?

Stay tuned.
